The restaurant “Schankwirtschaft” in Pfronten (about 15 minutes from Schwangau/Neuschwanstein) is a great place to come to if you want to experience dining in the region as it was in the old days. Their beer is home brewed. The dining room is cosy and the lighting invites you to relax and indulge. I had a delicious green leaf salad with balsamico dressing and tender duck liver to die for. The venison with red cabbage and “Spätzle” (local noodles) were also excellent.
